The Jefferson Awards is a national organization that recognizes outstanding community service done by individuals as well as groups. Many people have been recognized by the Jefferson Awards including many celebrities like Peyton Manning and Oprah. There are 3 branches to the Jefferson Award: the Business Sector, the Community Sector, and the Student Sector.
The Student Sector is called Students in Action. The goal of the Students in Action program is to recognize and promote student leadership throughout the country.
At Ashley Ridge, community service is at the heart of every student. It is our job, as members of the Jefferson Leadership team to recognize this passion the students have for helping out the community and to let the students know that their work doesn't go unnoticed.
NEWS
This year's first semi-annual awards ceremony was a great success! Just in January we recognized the AFJROTC, Varsity Volleyball Team, Leadership 2, and the Student Council for their amazing work in the school and community.
We'd like to thank them and everyone else that put in so much effort this past semester!
Also, we raised nearly $2,000 dollars from the Dodgeball Tournament to donate to the Ronald McDonald House! AMAZING! Thank you to the Leadership 2 students and everyone who played for all your hard work!

Community Service Opportunities
1. Book Worm Angels Book Drive
Last year, we raised over 900 children's books for the charity Book Worm Angels. They were distributed throughout the Charleston area to elementary schools. Let's try and do even better this year, and donate all you can!
2. Swampfest
Make sure you are signing up with your club for Swampfest. If you don't have a club, sign up to be a buddy. Swampfest will be held on April 26th, 2013!
--Swampfest also aligns with this year's Tricountry Youth Service Day! Make sure volunteer in order to be part of this greater project!
